Hey All, I live in a quiet, hilly, semi-rural area, love the serenity!
Not far from my place it seems they have set up a soil dump area to support the construction of a bridge about 3km away.
There is a small fleet of quite large dump trucks that are going into and out of this facility all day, with some of them working the exhaust brakes quite regularly (and loudly) as they traverse the fairly steep hill into/out of the area.
My question, how necessary is the use of exhaust brakes in these situations?
If it is something that is important to the safety of the vehicle, or helps in some productive way, then yeah, I get that. But if this is something that is being done for happiness reasons then the drivers and my idea of happiness are miles apart!
