ELD + Paper Logs, Switching Trucks – Advice

Hello friends. I work for a company that runs ELD, but has one truck that was built in 1998 and so is exempt from the ELD mandate. This truck is not outfitted with an ELD unit.

Sometimes, I have to switch trucks partway through a day from my usual truck into this truck.

Our usual ELD doesn’t allow manual log creation for driving, etc., so we do paper logs when we’re in this truck.

Doesn’t this technically count as running two logs, and therefore is illegal?

Is there any legal way to do this?

The ELD we use is Geotab. We’re in Canada, if that helps, but I’m sure an American perspective on this would be relevant as well.
