By far the scariest experience I’ve had thus far as a new trucker. Through i40 east in Gallup NM. I noticed cars spun out in ditches initially and that’s when it clicked that the roads were covered in ice. I slowed all the way down to 20 mph. Almost lost control once but I focused on keeping the steer tires straight. I’m not sure if I should be using the engine brake on ice but that’s what I did. Never touched the actual brakes. Man, I didn’t like any part of that at all. Kudos to those that drive these conditions regularly.
