Is this strange? I have a learner permit for HGVs and applied for a government sponsored 8 week full time course to get my CPC (CDL equivalent in the States, I think). The course is over subscribed so they are trying to cut out some applicants. I had to do a cab test. So, I arrived on the day, got straight out of my car and into a 7.5 ton rigid. With an instructor beside me, I drove through a narrow gate and into traffic on the outskirts of a busy town. I have never driven a truck before and made that clear at the outset. The purpose of the course is to learn how to drive HGVs. Is it not dangerous to put someone like me in this situation?
BTW, I did quite well, but that’s not the point.
