Have a weird scenario that came up with DOT and was curious if this makes sense. If I am towing a personal trailer between job sites with my personal vehicle, but getting paid mileage (standard IRS rate) would I still have to fall under DOT rules if I’m over 10,001 lbs?
I know if they are paying me hourly it would be considered compensation and I would fall under DOT regs but I was unsure about the standard mileage rate since that’s not taxable.
