Do truckers still use independent dispatchers?

I got out of the truck to be a broker agent, nope. I can’t do it. Spoiler, I found out brokers are taking 30%+ of the load. Im a driver and that hit hard.

I found a dispatch company to train me. They fight for a higher rate. They have access to better lanes.

My trainer told me that drivers don’t fight for higher money so they will take what the broker posts.

I moved my first truck yesterday. Driver called the broker and the broker wouldn’t budge on the $1.70 CPM. Im a haggler but nature. I got it up to $2.10 cpm. Plus delay pay at $75 per hr. After 3 hrs. ( Shipper had bad reviews on load time).

Now he is the only truck I’m dispatching but I felt like I did good in this industry.
