Do jobs with specialty have a little more freedom?

How true is it that the more specialty you have, you will most likely have a little more freedom. Let say you are doing drop and hook regional… in my experience the hours were always maxxed out and worked like a dog. However, I have spoken to people with hand unload, OTR, and tanker… they seem to have more freedom and leniency. I dont have a big sample size though.. Is this true across the board or just my little bubble into trucking?
