Distracting beeping alarm

We drive OTR trucking. Our Kenworth has the “feature” of following distance assistance. It not only beeps and screams when it thinks we are too close to the vehicle in front of the truck, it actually slams the brakes! You have to try and pass someone without getting close enough to set it off. John Q Public has no idea why we are in the passing lane a half mile from the next vehicle. I wish we could at least get the alarm to calm down. If anyone knows how to turn down (or hopefully off) the alarm, we would greatly appreciate the info.
