Hey everyone, recently I got injured and am out on disability with my company. Im no longer going to be able to drive with my right foot, and use whats called a “left foot accelerator pedal” in my personal vehicle. It basically takes the place of where the clutch would be, and I drive normally just with my left foot doing all the work instead of the right. My company is going over to automatic trucks anyway so getting an automatic on a daily basis won’t be an issue.
Has anyone else experienced this? I’m trying to get information as to who to contact, what types of equipment y’all have gotten approved by DOT, your company etc., so that I can take this to my company and hopefully have them work with me on this. I know in the DOT regs, you’re supposed to have use of all four limbs, but theres a waiver and test I can take that allows me to drive with some sort of adaptive equipment. I’m still going to be able to complete the other tasks of trucking, just the driving with my right foot is a no-go. Any help/suggestions/personal experiences are helpful.
