I was driving in OKC (Kansas resident) in my personal vehicle. An officer pulls me over and says I was doing 83mph in a 60mph zone. Which is wrong as can be. My cruise was set at 67mph. I have a Ford Focus and accidentally modified the MyKey settings several years ago to only allow.me to go 80mph. So given all this, there is zero chance I was going 83mph. He got the wrong car, I’m going to go back and fight this. I unfortunately have one 15mph over moving violation, a speed limit changed as soon as I popped around a corner, and I didn’t see the sign, it was 35 in a 20, well deserved.
I’m asking if anyone knows, since the officer dropped it and only fined me for 1-10mph over, am I at risk of a suspension given the “two reckless driving violations in 3 years” rule? I’m fighting this ticket regardless, I am one MILLION percent sure that he pulled the wrong guy over.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
UPDATE: I messaged a traffic lawyer out of OK. The fees are $20 less than my ticket would be. So I went ahead and sent a message their way. Waiting for a response.
