Been lurking & 1st post.
I saw the guys post regarding his negative $700 “payday” and I got to reflectin’. I work for a midsized company (foodservice) in the northeast. 2 year contract $10k (5k after 1 year).
To the guys out there, really consider looking elsewhere or finding a way to do it on your own.
I take home a little over 1k a week and it’s honestly a big joke. It’s no wonder why these companies are so thirsty for: “hiring new drivers ! “ we train you !” “Get class A here”.
Photos: Shit equipment (ramp keeper broken /written up 8-9 times) – pallets stacked up to the door (no steps no ramps out the door) – 6/10 cans being delivered over a snow a snow and that “we” had to shovel thru and hand cart down a hill to a stepped “garage”. This has been week after week after week.
We need better organization, it’s essential we communicate better and demand better pay and conditions.
I was awarded rookie of the year, and I’m no veteran but the places we deliver to (mainly 40’-45’ trailers) and drop ramps on ain’t worth $26 fiat an hour.
Food for thought to those on the fence. Thanks for having me, I’ve seen a lot of good advice in the short time I’ve been here.
