So I started this new job with hazmat tanker loads (C02, Argon, Liquid Nitrogen, Oxygen)
Everything seemed great the first week until I found out it’s routine for the drivers to drive in violation of their hours of service. Additionally many of the tank gauges are completely broken, drivers told me management blows off fixing them. Hours of service violations definitely concerned me because I have a clean record so far and plan to keep it that way. Tank gauges being in disrepair is super concerning too. Second week we had a very long day. My trainer logged some hours of driving on my book even though I didn’t drive a lick so he wouldn’t be in violation. Anyone have similar experiences like this? I’m thinking about quitting and singing on with a mega carrier since at least I know they run safe.
Edit: Driver trainer has been logging hours onto my log book that he has driven on a regular basis.
Federally mandated HMR training was a joke. Went in for the training and it consisted of 3 separate tests. The person administering the training gave the answers out. What should have taken at minimum an hour took 5 minutes.
