This happened a couple days ago. I was out of time on my 14-hour clock to get to the shipper so I called the company and told them I couldn’t make it. They replied, saying, “We can give you a 1 hour or 2 hour extension, so that you can get back to the shipper and get loaded.”
I’ve never heard of this before, and I don’t think it’s legal. Is this just something new that I’ve never heard before? Or is the company trying to violate DOT regulations while being sneaky with me?
For what it’s worth, I didn’t move. Instead, I put my phone on do not disturb and I went to bed, ignoring the calls and texts that came in that night. I wasn’t about to risk going into dot violation, regardless of anything else they were telling me.
