I know someone’s going to report this for unsafe or illegal but please hear me out. A company I work with has new rigs in their fleet and didn’t realize they came with collision avoidance sensors. They do heavy-haul and oversized loads and have to have the signage on the front of the truck, but the sensor keeps picking up the sign as a hazard and freaking out. We are very aware it is illegal to modify the collision avoidance in any way, and are not trying to do that, however we need a way to disable the feature or keep the sensor from thinking it’s going to crash. Ideally there would be an option to disable it from the truck’s UI since it is technically and optional feature, but we can’t find one. Any suggestions would be great because they don’t want to have to get other trucks.

Edit because it keeps coming up: it’s not illegal for it to NOT have the system, but it’s illegal for us, them, or the dealer to alter it (liability issue for the manufacturer). If it’s disabled or unplugged the cruise control and other systems won’t work or are affected. The solution so far is apparently an old license plate in front of the sensor (behind the sign), it’s the only thing that won’t make it freak out and we have no idea why but hey, it’s working!
