Hi everyone, I am seeking advice as to what to do next. I am extremely frustrated with the situation. So I ended up with this company via being pre hired during trucking school. This is a team driving company. The only reason why I even considered this option was because I was not able to pass a hair follicle test.Please note before I continue that yes this is my fault. I completely stopped doing drugs since May and plan on doing so for the foreseeable future. This company was the only one that only required a urine sample. So I went with them.
My training experience has been such a mixed bag. I went through 2 trainers, with the 3rd one being the best but I actually had to report the second trainer for sexually harassing my student co-driver. The first one did not maintain their tractor well and would have delayed up up to a week and a half due to their neglect. I was trained solo by my 3rd trainer (I did days, he did nights.)
I was often at times not given correct information, long wait times to reach the fleet team, having to find said information from basically luck and word of mouth, the tractor we were assigned to had its issues that were not fixed and finally, this happens; The co driver was driving during the time and I was asleep in the back. I do nights, because honestly I like them. Far less traffic, no weigh stations, just bad choices for food at night lol. She had enough sleep to be able to drive. She ended up on the left most lane of a 2 left turning lane. A truck was on the right hand side. When she went to make her turn, the other truck was making theirs and basically she hit the trailer. She caused a lot of damage to the right hand headlight, bumper and axle seal leaking.
We haven’t been on the road for a week and this happens. She should’ve waited longer and made 100% sure that another tractor was not on the other lane. Also, I found out a few days back that her trainer did not teach her how to basically line the tractor up with the trailer and proceed to hooking to it.
So now it will be almost a week before we may (or may not) get a load because we have to go to another state to find the other tractor. This company only covers upfront in full the price of a Greyhound bus ticket. We won’t get to the other state until Wednesday evening after 10 pm. Which means we have to hope that we find a load near by. This is insanity.This directly affects me and now I am not sure of what to do. I live in Florida and graduated trucking school in August. I have rent and bills that I have to pay and this person has completely screw that up for me.
I have no idea if I will get any advice on this but any links to jobs, or advise on how to proceed with this is greatly appreciated. I honestly do not want to stay with this company anymore and want to go solo but I know that my options are limited unless I know I cannot pass a hair follicle test. Thank you.
