Hey y’all, I could really use some help. I was losing coolant and had a cracked reservoir. I got that replaced and a day or so later I got the low coolant alarm for a couple minutes and it went away.
I topped off the coolant and got to where I needed to be. In the morning I filled it to the cold max line. Now I just parked an hour and a half ago and the level has dropped some. I took off the pipe that runs from the EGR to the intake and there wasn’t any coolant in there, but I also had to let it cool off so could it have dried up? Anyway.
I have a couple questions if anybody could help me out. I would appreciate it a lot.
1 When the mechanic changed my coolant reservoir he spilled a LOT of coolant on the ground. Makes me think he didn’t drain it and refill it, just tried to get away with draining that tank then replacing it. (Maybe that’s normal, I don’t know.) So, could I have just had air in the coolant lines that got filled in over the last couple of days?
2 When the truck is cold and you fill it to the cold max line, does some of it get pushed out when the engine gets hot? It’s only a quarter inch below that line. But the engine hasn’t cooled all the way down yet. If anybody could help me out here I would appreciate it.
Truck is a 2017 Cascadia with the DD15
