At the mega im at, we have these occasional virtual meetings.
The fleet manager said to us all in it something to the effect of “we have too many new hires so we are going to be laying off those who we deem arent sufficient.” in other words (dont want to quote exactly)
My feeling is that if they were really serious about layoffs, they wouldnt go mentioning it, they would just do it, and try to keep word getting out too much about it. Also, I im not sure if dispatch has the authority to make these decisions on their own, at least not for vague and/or unspecified reasons. Does anyone have more experience with unsavory dispatch managers at mega carriers who like to say demoralizing things to their team? Are they bluffing, maybe trying to throw drivers under under the bus for the effects of their mismanagement (bad communication with drivers and warrhouse, loads going out late, and more)
