Hey everyone I’m seeking some advice. I’m a travel nurse and currently assigned in Seattle. My boyfriend does local truck driving in Portland which is our home. He’s new to the class A role (6months in) but has been driving for 5+ years before with his class B. Anyways, we have casually been talking about him going OTR with me. My assignments are 13 weeks long and the long distance thing is killing us. Is there any type of trucking job out there where he can drive in the area I am working for a short time? Like a ‘pick your own route’ type of thing? Does he need several more years of class A driving in order to get a job like that?
I know I’m probably not explaining this well. I just want to know if there are opportunities for him out there that are similar to mine- where he can work in an area for 13 weeks and then move on.
