Drove across north STL earlier. 11’11” wide. I’ve decided I’m just going to split that entire stretch of 270 from now on.
Had fellow drivers who wouldn’t let me over to avoid troopers on the shoulder. Cut off plenty of times. More than one of those was from lane 1 directly to the exit ramp. Even had multiple fools try to pass me on the blind side while I was lane splitting. Yeah, tried to squeeze between my load and the Jersey wall.
I think I’d rather go across that stretch at 14’. At least then there’s a pilot to help block a little bit.
The detours, the closed shoulders in the country, no problem. But put a bunch of people around flashing yellow lights in a metro area and they turn into morons.
