So I was diagnosed as a child in the 90’s with ADHD, but convinced myself by 15 to stop taking my meds. It’s something I’ve struggled with to some degree my entire life, but I foolishly made excuses to myself, dismissing adhd as a real disorder (it definitely wasn’t as socially accepted as other disorders in the 90’s/2000’s, and I fell for the stigma).
I got into the logistics department at my work as a promotion, and during some time they decided to pay my way through CDL school so I can short haul trailers to different facilities around my area. I graduated a year and 4 months ago. I generally leave the office/yard once or twice a week. The more I drive and manage this yard with self reflection, I realize that I should get a re-diagnosis, but am hesitant to.
I was a typical ritalin kid way back when, but am looking at nonstimulant solutions, specifically Strattera, and am curious if any drivers have any experience with it? I’ve started an open dialogue with my boss, but it’s still in the “uhh…I’ll find out for you” you phase (My company is very new to the world of trucking, outside of dealing with 3rd parties to take our loads, so it’s a lot of back and forth).
