Are Freightliners truly bottom of the barrel trucks?

I’ve been trucking for 8 months, so still a rookie and I’ve never driven anything but Freightliners. The more experienced truckers I’ve talked to tell me if I ever drive a Kenworth or Pete, I’ll never want to step foot in another Freightliner. As a flatbedder I do get jealous when the loaded long nose passes me like I’m sitting still when going up steep grades and they definitely look a lot better. But I’ve noticed more Kenworths and Petes than Freightliners with their hoods open on the side of the interstate. I don’t have the experience to compare, so are Freightliners really THAT bad? Does anyone in this sub actually prefer them over the high end trucks?
