Took my test for the 2nd time yesterday and failed the road. For the 2nd time. Every time I go out on the road during class I do great, might rev too high on a downshift once or twice but that’s about it, not terrible. Anyway when I’m on the road for my test I always seem to miss 4th gear. I’m out of Ct so I can start in 3rd, get it up to 1500 and double clutch to 4th but it won’t go in just grinds. So I figure I was going too fast and try 5th but same thing, try downshifting back to 3rd, not a chance. So I just end up slowing down to basically a complete stop to get it back in 3rd cuz wtf else am I gonna do can’t accelerate in neutral lmao. The reason I thought it might be the test trucks is when I’m at a complete stop putting it in first it grinds like a mf unless u slam it in there but even that doesn’t work sometimes. Same thing with 3rd, it’ll go in if you do it just before you stop but good luck if you’re not moving. It also just feels really sloppy and the gears are really far apart, all the road trucks that aren’t used for testing the transmissions feel great you could shift with one finger (yes it’s the same kind of truck). Anyway, wtf do I do?? When i go in today I’m going to ask to go on the road with the truck I was in yesterday but that’ll probably be a no.
Any tips on shifting, is it me or the truck?
