Any Reason A Trucker Would Wear Ankle Weights While Driving?

Hey All,

This is a photo a cop outside Chicago took of a truck driver who went through two red lights before t-boning the driver of a box truck. Box truck driver was very badly injured.

The truck driver who ran the reds is wearing what appear to be ankle weights…. He gave no plausible explanation a to why and denies it despite the photos.

No one I’ve talked to has ever heard of such a thing. Anyone have any insights? Thanks.
