I do linehaul for a FedEx Ground contractor. I always try to get dollies & empties with no issues, because I’m free to pick the dolly I use & the empty trailers I pull. However, I don’t get to choose which loaded trailers I pull. They just load a trailer & tell me that that one is for me. Sometimes these loaded trailers have the ABS light on and it stays on despite my attempts to see if it’ll turn off. Am I supposed to refuse these trailers according to the law?
Given that DOT is focusing on ABS this week, I’m curious. I understand that it’s not an OOS, but they can still give you a ticket/warning for it because you chose to take it despite knowing that the light was on indicating that the ABS has an issue.
