For context I received my class A back in December, the company I work for has a mix of class B and A vehicles and for the past several years I’ve only driven the B’s. Last night I get sent on my first tractor run with a trainer, guy I’ve worked with for several years super knowledgeable. Had to swap trailers at a facility, back the truck under the trailer, we both heard the jaws lock, did a tug test and a trolley brake test and had no indication that anything was wrong (I realize here I where I learned my lesson). We pulled away from the dock started to turn and had the trailer drop off the tractor. No injuries or damage, and at least there were two of us to do the crank of shame, made that part easier. I know everyone says your only gonna do it once and never again, I’m triple checking everything from here on out.
Am I a real trucker now?
