advice for someone looking to get into trucking

ok so, I currently work as a deli associate for Walmart and am going through their guild program to get my BS in computer science. (i want to be a software engineer). however, I’ve considered multiple times becoming a truck driver. I’m just nervous navigating such a big vehicle but I know with proper training it’s something I’d be able to do.

in the Ohio area, what are some good beginner companies that either pay for your CDL classes or offer a reasonable contract for it, and has good overall training? I need to be absolutely confident I recieved the proper training, and I know it’s a lot to ask for but still. honestly, any tips for this whole experience would be great, thank you!

also, I’m 19 but on my 17th birthday I got into a minor accident but I panicked and ran so I have a hit & run on my record. will that affect anything?
