1st mistake and it cost me my job

So as the title says I’ve been with the company for 6 months and I just made my first mistake. I went 45 minutes over my drive time for the day. I called when this was gonna happen and was told to keep going to a safe place to park. It was late and all the rest stops and parking areas were full and as I said it took 45 minutes to find a safe space to park. I thought everything was fine until today when I was told because I violated my HOS I am being terminated.
